Product Recall Trends in Softlines: Q4 2019

Dangerous softline products increased by 55% in the EU and fell by 56% in the USA, in comparison with Q3 2019.

There were 87 products notified as unsafe in the EU, with the main categories being clothing and textile (48, of which 44 were for children’s clothing) and fashion jewelry (26, of which 11 were for piercing jewelry). The main risks were strangulation and injuries in the clothing and textile category, and chemical in the fashion jewelry category.

The USA saw four products notified as unsafe, all of them in the clothing and textile category. Three of these were for children’s clothing. The main risk was choking.
